The Steady Machine Show Vol. 1 - The Gaslamp Killer.

Steady-machine-1-cover

"The Steady Machine Show was contrived by Mestizo of Machina Muerte and Dumbfoundead of Knock Steady with resident in house DJ ZO. The two West Coast heavyweight emcees decided to pull together the extremely odd and the undeniably talented artists of Los Angeles they know and throw them on Reserve Radio to expose audiences to new and unheard forms of music. Expect nothing but the rarest and rawest artists featured on The Steady Machine Show, we guarantee you will never pin point what they are going to do next.

The Gaslamp Killer was a West Coast dirty drum, neck-break beat phenomenon, but as of lately has become a worldwide house hold name in the mouths of eager nutcases waiting for his return to ears and venues. Gaslamp was kind enough to come down to The Steady Machine Show and start off our tirade with a 35 minute murder mix. If you haven’t had the chance to see this man in person, every Wednesday night he’s at the world famous Low End Theory Club in Los Angeles. Gaslamp left the tracklist to the listeners imagination, so do your homework on the GLK."

Gonjasufi & The Gaslamp Killer on a road trip from LA to Vegas.

Sufi-killer

An exclusive Tim Noakes film for Dazed Digital:

"For the music issue of Dazed I hit the road with psyche hop wizard Gonjasufi, travelling from LA to his home in Las Vegas. Along the way we hooked up with his long-term producer and global purveyor of cosmic bass, The Gaslamp Killer for an afternoon of machetes, possum hats, hash cookies and heady vibes. In this exclusive film for Dazed Digital, the duo discuss on camera – for the first time ever – what inspired A Sufi & A Killer, their hallucinogenic debut album, and we also show what happened behind the scenes of Luke Gilford’s shoot for the magazine. What are you waiting for? Los Bangeles and Sin City are calling you…"

Brainfeeder London 2010. DJ Sets. [Stream]

Here's a live recording of the infamous Brainfeeder night @ Fabric last week. The stream is provided by the Red Bull Music Academy who hosted the night and features the sets from Tokimonsta, Gaslamp Killer, Dorian Concept & J Rocc.

Shame that there's no video of the Gaslamp Killer set. When he dropped the high pitched tones over Timbaland's Bounce at 4:00 minutes in, he was going bezerk on stage!!!

Brainfeeder London. Fabric. March 2010.

So last Wednesday was the night of all nights. Fabric London hosted a Brainfeeder Session as part of of the Red Bull Music Awards. The night was...  hmmm .. shall I say EPIC?!

Having Flying Lotus, Daedelus, Gaslamp Killer, Dimlite, Tokimonsta, Nosaj Thing, Dorian Concept, Martyn, Kode9 & J Rocc play in one night is something that's very rare. Rare for London, rare even for LA and unthinkable for most of the rest of the world.

Somehow Gaslamp Killer always steals the spotlight, but other highlights of the night were Lotus, Daedelus & Dimlite. Didn't really feel the J Rocc set, but maybe it had to do that was tired and my legs and back started aching from Fabric's bass setup in room one - they got subwoofers underneath the dancefloor, so when Gaslamp Killer dropped some of that heavy Dubstep, the floor was literally shaking...

So, here's some videos from the night:

Gonjasufi - A Sufi & A Killer. Listen to the whole album!

So here it is, Gonjasufi's album on Warp!! Clash Music offers a full preview of the album (below) and I must say I dig it a lot. Although the producers Mainframe, Gaslamp Killer and Flying Lotus inject their own style, it all comes together very nicely. Some raw shit! Just how we like it :P

Gonjasufi x Gaslamp Killer > Deadly Combination!

Sufi-glk

Gonjasufi is the LA-based, shaman looking, vocalist who collaborated plenty of times with people like Flying Lotus and the Gaslamp Killer. The outcome were tracks that were simply out of this world. Warp Records signed Gonjasufi some time ago and now a collaboration album with Gaslamp Killer has a firm release date: 9th March 2010!

"I just hope this record reaches people at the point when they're one foot out the window and looking down and that song comes on through the speakers and they pull their foot back through the windows and say "wait a minute - let me re-evaluate the situation..".  If anything I would pray that people find the ability to find themselves in the music." - Gonjasufi

Check Sufi's new website for more info and stream tunes.

And pre-order from warp.net

Includes a few older tracks, the recently released singles, like Ancestors - and new material. All produced by GLK, Flying Lotus and Mainframe. Good to see the track on there, that started it all for me - still ranks high in my all time favourites...

Another stand out track, that was released recently:
